To prepare you for your job search, below are timelines and events to keep in mind prior to your arrival at Berkeley Haas. Depending on what industry you're interested in, please remember the key timelines below to set you up for success in your first semester and beyond.
As a Haas student, you gain access to dedicated recruiting resources, including employer events exclusively for Haas, industry relationship managers with strong networks, and a supportive, school-wide career search community. In today’s MBA job market, a proactive, relationship-based job search is the standard across most industries, with the exception of early cohort recruiting (outlined below). CMG is here to guide you every step of the way.
Throughout the year, students connect with employers on campus and virtually through company presentations, coffee chats, targeted networking events and more intimate gatherings like industry micro-mixers and alumni career chats- all hosted by the CMG. The internship recruiting process & events starts in early October for most industries listed below.
Students also benefit from networking events, treks, conferences and other resources organized by student clubs.

While most MBA roles are secured through the standard job search process outlined above, a small subset of industries recruit through cohort recruiting. These industries include Investment Banking, Consulting and some Big Tech.
These firms partner with CMG to engage with internship-seeking students as soon as September of your first semester at Haas. Take some time to consider which events and companies you're interested in so you can determine how to approach your Fall semester.
Examples of early recruiters are:
CONSULTING - | Bain | BCG | Deloitte | McKinsey |
INVESTMENT BANKS - | Goldman Sachs | JP Morgan | Morgan Stanley |
LARGE ORGANIZATIONS - | Microsoft | TikTok |
Between settling in Berkeley, meeting your classmates and starting classes, things will get hectic once you arrive on campus, trust us. Here are some things you can do in advance to make your fall semester a bit less busy.

How to prepare before you arrive
Once you arrive, you will be busier than you ever imagined. Use the summer to reflect on your professional goals and what you want to gain from your two years at Berkeley Haas. To ease the transition, consider a few steps.
One, reflect on your journey and form hypotheses about potential career paths. Consider which clubs to join, companies that inspire you, and how to craft your story to reach your goals. Two, update your resume (it will differ from your MBA application version) and LinkedIn using Haas samples for guidance. Three, follow companies, news, and podcasts to deepen your knowledge and interest. With limited time, clear goals will help you prioritize and say no to less important activities. Be honest with yourself about your priorities to help you set those goals.
